Watch this inspiring visual journey showcasing EarthLore’s work since 2015 that focuses on seed, soil and culture – the very heart of EarthLore’s work.
The video is a joyful celebration documenting the revival of indigenous seeds, traditional farming practices, the different cultures on this transformative journey and their colourful rituals and ceremonies that reconnect them with Mother Earth and the wider environment that supports all life. The video highlights the ever-increasing diversity of traditional seeds and the abundance of crops being planted by small-holder farmers in Mpumalanga and Venda in South Africa, and in Bikita in Zimbabwe, as more local seeds are revived.
We hope this video encourages and inspires the communities we work with as well as other farming communities, partners, funders and allies worldwide, who support and appreciate EarthLore’s work. A special thank you to The Seeds, Food and Culture Fund funded by RSF who initiated the idea of creating the video and helped to fund it.
The video is a team effort that was started just over a year ago immediately after EarthLore’s annual Seed and Food Fair celebration in Mpumalanga, in September 2022. We viewed it as an opportunity to build team spirit, promote cooperation and to surface dormant and hidden talents of team members. There was much excitement during the 3 days spent together selecting suitable photos and developing the script. Three EarthLore team members narrate the story of EarthLore’s work.
Making the video was an enriching and inspiring process. We hope that you share the same excitement when you watch the completed product.
